About
The idea for Hunt for Joy Travel Co. was birthed in 2025. While in graduate school, I worked as a nanny and cared for two wonderfully amazing kids. The elder of the two had been diagnosed with autism at an eary age and would go on to deeply struggle with sensory regulation and changes in his routine. I witnessed first hand how overwhelmed his parents were with the struggle to find something suitable for their family needs, let alone book the trip. I continued to see this post graduation- during my first school based job working with preschoolers and their families. I began researching out of curiosity, noticing a widespread lack of accessibility. In a survey conducted by Autism Travel, out of 1000 parents with an autistic child, 87% said they do not take family vacations. They were also asked if they would travel more if there were autism certified options were available. This received an astounding 93% of parents in agreement. Finally, 97% said they aren't satisfied with the current options (ibcces.org).
The resounding message is that we are ignoring and neglecting a large population of individuals who also very much deserve to have fun experiences. I began widening my lense and noticing where else these discrepancies lied such as queer travelers and people of color who may be hesitant to travel to other countries and not be welcomed with open arms. Difficulties or concerns with mobility can deter adventurous and curious souls from taking that trip they always dreamed of. Or the solo traveler who's unsure if they can afford that Caribbean trip.
After making all these discoveries– combined with 8 years of chronic stress building on my back (yes, starting from a very young age!)– I was inspired to make a career change. I continue my career in education... but only part-time as I like having my sanity! (Those in education will vouche for me)
With all this being said, the long term goal of Hunt for Joy Travel Co. is to work with the aforementioned groups and others who are often ignored and forgotten in the travel industry. BUT– for now, you will see many of my promotions featuring cruises from Carnival or Royal Caribbean and Sandals all inclusives as I educate myself and review autism certified hotels, resorts, and excursions to equip you with the most accurate information for smooth travels.
I am also an agent to one of the largest and most well respected travel agencies- Outside Agents- giving me access to more resources and connections. That's good news for you!!
While the biggest reason I created Hunt for Joy Travel Co. was to also help families or groups who otherwise would often get overlooked in the travel industry, I am here to help anyone and everyone make their travel dreams come true. Sometimes it feels as though there are too many barriers in the way of your dream vacation. Thats where I come in. I hope to make travel easy, accessible, and affordable for everyone I work with! As a social worker, it's my priority that any individual I work with is not only in a safe environment, but also feels safe. When we feel safe and comfortable to be ourselves is when we can have the most fun!!
I look forward to working with you to discover your dream vacation and then working my magic to turn it into reality!
